Diffusion problem

I am fond of those lamps that smoothly transit into different colors make a room more dreamy. My first problem is very simple is effectively difficult to solve. I cannot diffuse the light enough. It's a problem that I have been facing since my beginning days in college. I made many light gift for my friends, but none was aptly diffused. Diffusion of light is important. It actually sets the mood.

I suddenly Googled LED diffuser, and I got a instructable result. Take a look at it. I love instructables because they are so full of ideas. It's not always possible to exactly reproduce what it is said in the instructable, but you get the idea. Then I got another neat idea, here it is from uC hobby. I like the uC hobby idea more.

Before I start to think very seriously about diffusion techniques, I will try my hot glue diffusion idea. May require a lot of hot glue but it might work fine. :)
